Climate Control- intermittent heat now or AC in summer
Lexus 2005 RX330
We are having some problems with climate control (both AC and now heat).
During summer, the ac didn’t work once in while but then it will come back either by starting the car again and or just magically.
Now, we are having similar issues with heat. For the last two days, no heat in cold Chicago! Only cold air blows. Temperature gauge on dashboard looks fine.
Another issue which my mechanic thinks is related is that when I turn the car key in, it gives high pitch sound. But if I wait for a few seconds for steering wheel etc to adjust and then turn the key, it doesn’t give that sound most of the time. The mechanic thinks that they are all related to some control that may be “ sparking” giving high sound and impacting climate control as well. Freon etc are fine.
do you agree? Any suggestions to try before going to the pricey dealership.

My 05 RX330 makes a squealing sound on occasion when inserting the key although I have no issues with the heat or the air conditioning....
doubtful that both issues have anything to do with each other.
Did you check the level of coolant in the Radiator itself? For starters....perhaps some air in the cooling system.
Run the vehicle with the Radiator Cap off, check that the level stays full & for air bubbles.
If not, fill to the top adding only Toyota Coolant & make sure no air bubbles are present.
