Hi all I just inherited a 2006 400h and I don't understand what's happening with reverse and beeping? I've searched on this and not only can't find out the name of the "system" that's beeping but the owners manual doesn't make any mention of it? Closest I could find is Laser cruise control which doesn't seem to apply. I've read about beeping with the Prius and CT but not my model. I called the dealer service dept and they said you must have been in an accident or something. Gee thanks. Backing out of the garage or god forbid you parallel park and the car has an epileptic fit with a deafening beeping noise. How do I turn off whatever system this is called completely? I appreciate any help.

Maybe the car has an aftermarket rear parking sensor system that's on the fritz.

It'll beep if you have the back hatch open - or if it "thinks" the back hatch is open. Maybe the rear door sensor switch is on the fritz?

Maybe? It has I think like 4 sensors inside the back bumper. Looks oem to me.

Weird part is is if you are in empty lot it just beeps incredibly loudly once when you put it in reverse. But as I mentioned if you back out of the garage with the wall on you left or if you try to parallel part all bets are off. The system beeps like you are about to crash through a wall. The even odder part is not knowing what the system is just yet. I'm sure that will come to pass but for now its just a bit confusing not knowing how to turn this feature Off.

As far as I know Lexus did not offer reverse sensors for the second gen RX so I would expect it's an aftermarket system. I would look around the dash for a switch or **** that looks out of place. Hopefully you'll find a disable switch or volume control.

Thanks. Guess I'll have to do more digging. Only had the car for a few days and haven't been the primary driver so I haven't been able to root around with dashboard.
