The later RX350 is equipped with a timing chain...
All Toyota 3MZ-FE engines including the RX330, Sienna, Highlander & a limited amount of Camry vehicles with the same engine also have timing belts, luxury or not.
In my case, as a financial decision, it was $6,000 less in order to purchase a RX330 & take care of the timing belt than it was to purchase a RX350.

Maybe it's just me, I own Toyota cars with chains alongside my RX330 and also maintain a fleet of Toyota's and Lexus', I prefer belt over chain any day. The engines are much quieter and smoother. Also, although the timing belt job isn't the cheapest out there, the intervals are reasonable and they replace as a precaution what chain engines will wait until fail aka water pump, pulley's, belts, etc.

Meh... I know the newer does have chain, but me too couldn't afford a newer one
anyway, I had lots of cars with timing chain and they were not noisy at all, maybe when you get past 200.000 miles !

I have 171k miles on my RX350 and it's very quiet. To the point that I find myself checking the tach sometimes to make sure the engine is still running.
