OEM rear struts, japan parts dif?
Hey guys.
Can anyone tell me the right part numbers. It seems like JAP version might be different parts?
Thanks!
I think these are correct:
48540-A9330 L
48530-A9650 R

Hey BlackLexRX... thanks for jumping in to reply. I did mean to include that info but deleted line by mistake
2008 AWD non-air susp.... yes JAP
While I have your attention... I'm debating KYBs vs factory.... Crappy roads here and I love the plush ride with stock and don't want to lost that. On the otherhand I'm thinking KYBs might last longer given these conditions. Obviously stock is about double the $...
thanks!

Ok, parts numbers you listed originally may work, but they also fit 330s, which means they're basically older versions. Parts # for OEM Lexus rear struts for 2008 AWD are: 48530-49325 Right, 48540-49215 Left. I see them at MyLparts for 270$ each, so very pricey. These will fit Canadian or Japanese origin RXs. Interestingly, the coils that are sold are different from Japanese or Canadian built, lol, but rear struts are the same.
As for KYBs, I actually prefer them, but you may not as they are stiffer. Haven't put any on my current RX, but did replace the wife's Honda CRV with KYB rear struts and it really made that car come alive, but stiffer. (Those have a tendency to sag in the rear and KYB brought that right up nicely). KYB rears for your RX are 100$ each. If you want a softer ride, you could go with Monroe OE Spectra series, about 100$ each and are upgraded compared to the regular Monroe line.

Great thanks. Prospect of moving away from factory is scary....
Tell me this... if I want to keep factory mounts is there any problem with eithe KYB or Munroe? It looks like factory integrates bellows with the mounts so if I want to use KYB or Munroe covers I'd have to jerry-rig them (factory ones are destroyed.) The thought of keeping the mounts comes from reading that they are arguably superior to the options.
Hmmm it's normal for VIN matching to not match to the LEXUS parts you listed?
Double hmmm... on mylparts VIN corresponds to FWD apparently but it is for sure AWD! Other store shows 48530-49325, 48540-49215

Thats what I see, scroll down the page and you'll see the AWD version listed as I wrote above. And here's where I see Monroe that looks the same as factory mounts: https://www.carid.com/2008-lexus-rx-...-17926653.html
Neither OE or Monroe seem to include bellows as part of the strut, you'd have to add that, but they are offered at each place. Didn't check your VIN against it of course, but I entered 08 with AWD and that is what comes up.

Check out the Monroe website, they do offer the mount with integrated bellow as you described. I've taken an interest in this as I will have to replace mine too some day and these Monroe OE Spectrums seem to be good quality and identical to OE. Check their online catalog. And for 170$ less than OE, its almost a no brainer for me.

Ooops what I meant by other store.... those are the P/Ns but they say "... does not match your VIN..." Guess they use the same lookup info that identifies my VIN as FWD....
They are also lifetime guaranteed too I think. I want to be careful what I say here about products but I won't use them

More so for Denso parts, although I believe the original Lexus OEM struts were supplied by KYB.
Either way you can't go wrong with KYB or Monroe, the ride preference comes into play.
Considerable difference in $$$ between OEM & aftermarket.
I vote for the Monroe OE Spectrum 72215/ 72216 struts.

I had the same concerns for my rx300 when replacing struts and learned my lesson about using aftermarket (KYB) rear mounts. They broke the welds and luckily i didnt throw the OEMs away. I used KYB GR2/Exel G struts as a replacement. Great ride. You can use KYB bellows and trim off what you need from your old set. I kept mine as long as i could to provide more protection from mud and dirt. FWIW, if you go with KYB struts they have a rebate of 80 usd with purchase of 4 struts ending 4/30
