Default Lexus RX 350 Oil Control Valve - p0012

HI everyone,

1st post here and I am trying to fix an issue my mom just started to have. She took it to the dealer and the dealer said it was the OCV also known as the VVT. They wanted 780$ to do this replacement...Which to me is expensive when I saw that the part is only 65$. I am not too familiar with these cars, (I have done plenty of work on my own Volkswagen and Mitsubishi) but I just wanted to reach out to see if anyone has tackled this job and what to expect. I tried searching but I could not find an exact issue with the RX350.V6 she has.

Thanks in advance,

Edit: The RX 350 is a 2008

Thanks for the video, It helps a little. I know I'll be replace the pair of the OCVs.

Once I complete it, I'll throw up a write up on how to do it, and if I get my go-pro working, I'll run through a step by step on the v6 3.5L. It's what I always do on my other forums if a proper write up isn't available. Hoping to get the parts by Monday. .

Yeah I need to do this as well.

What part number did you find for the OCV's?

Also, if you do put together a writeup that would be great!

I found the part # on Lexuspartsnow. I don't know the # off the top of my head, but you can find them there.

I plan on doing a writeup once I receive the parts Wednesday. Hopefully it will go smoothly. I located the two OCVs this weekend and I hope this is relatively painless.

Did this solve your problem and how did you get it out past wire harness? That's where I am stuck. Thanks
