Default 2007 Rx350 Struts

I've seen a few posts here on changing the struts. Most are just changing the strut...(removing spring, etc). For only a few bucks more a complete strut can be had. Seems swapping out would be a whole lot easier. I see the FCS make for about $110.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Rob

Using the quick strut assemblies makes for a faster repair time. It is also less work. Downside is that you are replacing parts that don't need to be replaced and you are paying for those parts.

If you replace just the struts, you will have to rent a spring compressor and spend an extra 30 minutes per strut. The upside is that you can get a variety of struts and change the ride if you want to.

From my reading experiences, quick struts will not last. They are cheaply made and I would not use them, especially on a newer vehicle like 2007

I put them on last night and about 20 minutes per side is all it took. Fit was perfect, everything lined right up. Only issue was the small hole for the top 3 nuts that Lexus put there. I ended up using the OEM nuts as they use a smaller socket head. Took it on a few mile run and the alignment has not changed. I'll probably have it aligned to make sure it is all good. I did notice on the old ones I could put my upper body weight on them and get about a 3/4" bounce. No movement on the new ones. My wifes car was bottoming out on small dips. Beats $1550 that Lexus wanted. Interesting Lexus wanted $1300 for the fronts.

Default After market struts

If anyone whats to do the same thing, I have some new in a box never opened, I think different brand but the same idea, totally complete. Let me know and I will take picture of the box I am not going to open as they are ready to ship. They are yours for the price of the shipping from zip code 95066. I purchased them and never used. My loss, your gain.
