Default Buy or no buy? 2007 RX 400h

Hi all. What do you guys think of the 2007 rx400h? I'm interested in one with 96k miles.
I just want something reliable and nice to drive. I like working on my cars so probably i'll be doing lots of maintenance by myself. In fact this is the one im looking at: RX400H

Hope you can help me decide! Thanks!

I think and RX400h is a great choice. But I think you can find one with less scratches and better carpet for the same price.

Well if there are no others around, then I would go for it. Most of that stuff could be fixed by a good detailer for not too much money. And a new hole cover for the front bumper is only $15.

The driver side headlight appears to have condensation in it.
It appears to be bamboo pearl in color, that is known to have paint issues on some trim pieces (search bamboo Pearl on this forum).
I think there is a Lexus certified sticker in the driver door jamb. I think that's a plus because issues that came up during the certified warranty period we're likely to be fixed by a dealer rather than ignored.

well today i went to the dealership and happens that they sent it to an auction like two hours before i was there. Reason according to the salesperson was that it had some kind of problem that would cost more to fix than actual earnings from selling the car that they had to just auction it. So here i am again in the hunt for another one....

We love our 2008. I don't think there were any major changes between the MY's.

The specific vehicle matters -- not just the make, model year & miles. If you can't properly inspect a given vehicle yourself then get it inspected before buying.

You lucked out. There are some very, very expensive parts on the 400. You might be better served with a gas model in an older RX.

so today i went to check on another one. It had a huge double crack in the windshield and the tires were almost flat. Other than that it looked ok. Engine bay looks free of licks and no rust all around. If i don't find one i like until this Friday probably i'll have to look at the gas models.

I would turn around right away. Very clear signs say it wasnt treated well.

You should look for 1 owner, no accident, and mint condition. It is very easy to find rx400h in this condition. I been through lots of cars, and the RX has some of the most stringent 1st owners when it comes to care and maintenance.

I looked for five months to find what I wanted.
Understand, from the beginning, the differences between regular and hybrid drivetrains.
I agree with others who suggest a one owner/low mileage RX400h. Ideally serviced @ Lexus regularly. Research and understand recall issues, as well as the warranty extensions for specific problems. (Read these forums!) There are indeed issues, if not addressed, that can be very expensive to clean up.
