Default Buying an RX400h

I'm doing a lot of research on a 120k mile RX400h before I buy it, including Carfax report and going through all of the Lexus service histories on the Lexus website. Does this message indicate that the inverter for the hybrid system has been replaced?

PERFORM INSPECTION - REPLACE IPM TRANSISTOR 4.0 - SSC BLD // BLD - SAFETY RECALL BLD - CERTAIN 2006 THROUGH 2007 MODEL YEAR RX 400H VEHICLES INTELLIGENT POWER MODULE (IPM) REPLACEMENT - REMEDY AVAILABLE - SSC - PERFORM INSPECTION - REPLACE IPM TRANSISTOR 4.0

Sounds like it. By the way was the timing belt and spark plugs changed. Plugs are due at 120k miles...It is labor intensive as the intake manifold has to be removed to do the rear three plugs. Timing belt can be done by any Toyota dealership...Great car (ours has 161k miles)

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the timing belt and spark plugs were done at 90k miles. The radiator was also replaced at around 102k miles because it was leaking pink fluid. 2 brake actuators were also replaced. It was serviced at a Lexus dealer religiously at 5,000 mile intervals.

Good to know you have higher miles and it's still working well!

They replaced a board inside your inverter as part of the recall. The complete inverter was not replaced.

I believe smassey is correct. This was done under recall of the inverter power module. The actual inverter probably wasn't replaced. As for me, I had a leaky radiator at 100K miles, but finally replaced it 120K mile when I had the timing belt and CVT fluid changed. I'm dreading the rear 3 spark plug replacement, but will have that down when something else is needed. My wife has 130K on the car and she's happy that it's every bit as reliable was her old 94 Integra.

That is what was causing the inverters to fail, though. Correct? I'm hoping the hybrid system will be good to go for a long time now.

The circuit board was failing, not the inverter. The recall replaces the circuit board and the inverter should be just fine.

Bought a 2006 RX400h with 149,000 miles and was reluctant due to that "high mileage." Read quite a bit about the model (some on this website) and feel good about the purchase. Been driving about 1 month and very pleased. Never been in a Lexus before and it is definitely several steps up from our usual car. This is my first post so ....just glad to see such information and dedication is available. Truly enjoy the driving experience and this site. Much to learn, I know but thanks, members and moderators.
