No alternators available in Canada for 2007 RX350
Hello all
My alternator just went and the dealer advised me that there are no parts anywhere in Canada.
Has anyone else come across this? Is it possible there may be a recall coming?
Seems suspicious to me.
Thanks

I wouldn't expect so, I would think the low or no inventory is related to useage. I have seen very little alternator failures. You might contact Sewell Lexus in Texas and see if they have it in stock. If you sign up with them they give a discount to Club Lexus members.

There are 4 different alternator options. 2 depending on if your RX was built in Japan or North America. If your VIN starts with a J it was made in Japan. Then 2 more if if you have the tow package. It looks like parts are available for all of these. You may want to see if a local auto electric shop can rebuild yours. That may result in the shortest down time.

first, sewell recently changed their shipping policy and will NOT ship to Canada.
Peter,
Customers of Lexus products both in the United States and abroad are entitled to the highest level of warranty and service and the local dealer network is in the best position to provide such services.
Diversion of U.S. market Lexus products to a foreign market can severely distort vehicle production planning, warranty services and repairs and compromise dealership integrity.
Therefore, our policy to comply with our contractual commitments assisting Lexus achieve the highest sales and distribution performance for its products worldwide in their respective local markets means we can only offer our products and services domestically.
We apologize for this obvious inconvenience.

i previously ordered from you, a few months ago. now i see its says that you no longer ship to canada. looking to confirm, or if there is a way around it.
Second, recalls are for safety reasons ONLY, nothing else. they wouldn't stop selling key parts in anticipation of a recall, they would just issue it.
third, just get aftermarket, probably cheaper.
other option, remove yours and have it rebuilt.

As kickin8 said, call TOYOTA. It's probably a Toyota alternator with a LEXUS sticker on it.. or call a auto electrical shop and buy a aftermarket. Nothing special about alternators anyways...
