Any issues with 0W-20?

So, I inadvertently bought M1 0W-20 for this oil change and went ahead and used it.

Will this create an issue? I had planned on a 5000 mile schedule, should I short it to get the required 5W-30 back in sooner (or immediately)?

Depending on what year you have I think 0W20 is now the recommended oil. There was bulletin a few years ago. I use it for every oil change. At 5k miles you will be fine. Many push it to 10k without issue.

Indeed. The dealer recommended it (Toyota 0W-20) and it seems it contains a 'special' additive pack in addition to the base Mobil 1 oil. They say change in 10 mos. or 10K miles, which comes first. It's nice to see that Lexus/Toyota is finally joining up with progress made by other car-makers years ago....

20 might be too thin...If you want 0W oil, I would go for 0W30

Which engine do you have, 3300 or 3500? When I purchased our 09 Lexus RX 350 in Sept., the service rep said we should use the 0-20. My Highlander is an 05 with a 3300 engine. I just had the oil changed by Toyota, they used 5-30W. So which engine do you have? If it's a 3300, I'd contact Lexus directly and ask them. I would not use 0-20 in my Highlander 3300 engine.

Sorry, I thought it was in my profile. It's a 2007 RX350. So, seems like I should be fine with the M1 0W-20?

Here is the chart I was looking for. You are fine.

Great info, thanks!

So, contrary to what some are saying, apparently Lexus gives the nod to using 0W-20 in any year RX -- good to know.

I run Amsoil 0W20 in my wife's 04 RX330, no issues. My friend who works at dealer runs 0W20 in his 98 ES and now his 01 ES. Never an issue. I run 0W20 in my 2GS4 also (with 229k miles) and not a single issue.

I CANNOT over emphasize reading this article. Read it twice is a good idea.

I think everyone who drives a car and does their own maintenance should read those articles. It opens up a whole lot of thought!
