Default 19 mm Rear sway/roll bar on the rear of my RX

I recently installed an aftermarket sway bar on the rear of my 06 RX400h AWD. I have always wanted the rear to stay a little flatter on exit ramps and this did the trick. TRD offers a rear bar kit for the Prius but finding one for the RX was difficult for me until now. I have no interest in stiffer springs/shocks or lowering so this is just right for what I wanted.

Stock bar sizes for my RX were 23mm front / 15mm rear which is a big difference between front and rear. I am now 23mm front / 19 mm rear which makes the care more neutral by taking out some under-steer. .

Other than cost there is zero downside for this install. Bumps are the same as before and the ride quality is still Lexus perfect. The install was easy and can be done with a couple of sockets. I was able to remove and replace the bar without putting the car on ramps or having to remove a rear wheel or the spare tire.

I got the bar from ebay and it shipped to me from Malaysia in less than a week.

Thanks for posting this. My 2006 RX 400h AWD has been lowered via Eibach pro kit and I upgraded to 20" wheels with 255/45/20 tires. Handling improved quite a bit, but I've been wondering about sway bars as well.

Also glad to read that the I installation process is straightforward!

Finally! Someone pulled the trigger on one of these!

Thank you!

So the cornering has improved?

I have been thinking of getting this and the front strut tower bar.

Has anyone ordered/installed the tower bar?

I have only had the chance to try it out on a few fast sweeper exit ramps and so far I am pleased. It was not a drastic change in fact it is hard to tell it is there except when pushing it harder than most people will. On entry it leans less and then bites and holds where it would plow in the past.

The RX400h has above average acceleration and braking capabilities. Adding the rear bar takes the handling from awful to bearable by bringing it more in line with power and braking.

I can't comment on the strut bar but my gut makes me think there would not be a huge difference in adding it.

I am hoping the strut bar would just tighten the front over rough/uneven surfaces (and hopefully eliminate the mysterious dash rattle).

The rear bar would be for improved handling.

My experience with strut tower bars is that installing one would make a lot more things rattle. The downside to making the car more rigid is a stiffer ride and new rattles.

I'll have to look into the RSB, I didn't realize there was an aftermarket option. Other than lowering springs, playing with tire pressure, and removing the FSB, I can't think of any better way to decrease the understeer. My wife went from a heavily modified 94 Acura Integra to the Rx400h. She misses her former suspension.

Hmmmm aftermarket rear sway bar that doesn't ruin the ride and lessens the lean, sounds like something I would like to do.

I just realized that the title states fitment for the AWD model. Anyone know if it'll fit the FWD?
