Default Stolen Keys

I had my master key for my 05 RX 330 stolen recently while I was at the park playing basketball, I have an extra master key at home but I would like to know if Lexus is able to change the code to unlock the car just to make sure no one tries to steal my car. Also would like to know how much they would charge.

Thanks.

Yes, they can do that. I do not know how much it would be, but I would pay the price, just for the peace of mind. Someone may come back with the key to take the car anytime now.

Lexus of Portland charged me $60. I would get a new key at the same time. It would save you a little money since they could program the new key at the same time they delete the old key from the car.

Anyone with a computer and VCI (tech stream) can reprogram the transmitter code and/or erase the stolen key code. I believe the immobilizer can be recoded just as easily. Just last week, I programmed a spare transmitter and immobilizer for my wife's 2007 Rx.

I hope your key was lost and not stolen.
