Default RX 330 Key

Does anyone know how the key of the RX will look like? Im just wondering if it be like the previous generation Range Rover or like the keys of a BMW or just a regular key.

Thank You very Much for your reply.

If these Harrier pictures are any indication, the key should be similar to the existing RX key if not the same. Everything in the RX 330 is pretty much the same as the Harrier. (First picture, third row down)

The RX330 will offer 2 different keys. Depends on if you get the Power Rear Door or not. If no pwr bck door, the key will be the same as previouse RX300. If the RX330 comes with the Power Rear Door, the panic button is now the Back Door button. The panic feature is now part of the lock button.

Ah yes, the famous Lexus plastic encased key designed to crack after about 3 years so you have to buy another one for $200.

What a design ripoff.

I have a 1994 GS so my key is almost 10 years old. Never had a crack key. Are crack keys very common? Has it always been a problem or do the newer models come with cheaper plastic casing? I plan on getting the RX330 this year so I will be more careful with my keys. I can see having to pay maybe $50 dollars for a new key but $200 is ridiculas.

The metal part of the key has just the top encased in the plastic. This is clear if you take the case apart like when changing the battery. Look at the design and you can see there is hardly any of the key in the plastic. At Northside Lexus where I went to see/learn how much a new key would be, the parts person told me some people have been known to break the case with the key in their pocket at the wrong angle when they bent over. Like if you had on a tighter fitting part of jeans or something. It was my wife's key and hers is always in her purse. I think she must have been grabbing the key too far back from the base when starting car or something. Cannot figure out how otherwise. But, the parts guy clearly knew about breaking key cases.
