I'm way past the warranty, and even though the previous owner had all the work done at Lexus, I'll be going to the Toyota or local mechanic for my maintenance now. At my local Lexus dealership, it's $200 for the oil change, which is ridiculous. Its less than half that at Toyota, and the Toyota dealership is less than 5 miles from the house.

Henry2024, I am certainly going to take that to heart! Thank you for the Post. Wow, $200 for an oil change?! I will be taking mine to the local QuickLube, where I have some connections, or my neighbor (my mechanic) will be doing the oil changes for me!

Guys and gals, would it concern you if the pre-owned vehicle you were looking at was owned by four previous people? Obviously, I am looking to purchase a one-owner vehicle, but I am wondering if I should let that be the end-all in my search. I will give details on the vehicle that I was looking at, but if I should stop now, without even going further (with it being owned by four previous people!), I won't even bother. Thank you.

It all depends if they took care of it. Like my wife told me, people who generally buy Lexus don't trash their vehicles, and they tend to be in the older, more mature age. Of course many young people buy Lexus too, though.

I would rather buy a vehicle that was well taken care of buy 4 different owners, than a one owner vehicle that treated it like crap.

Take for example my 07 RX. I'm the third owner. Now through my research, I found out that the first owners were in their late 50s, and the 2nd owners were in their late 60s. I won't say how I found that out. The Lexus owners site and Carfax shows that regular maintenance done at all the scheduled intervals including all the expensive checks. Other than the paint problem, the exterior is immaculate. The interior is in mint condition and looks brand new. Even still has the new car smell. The engine purrs like a kitten.

While I was looking around at other brand vehicles of comparable age, you can definitely tell that they've been abused by the owners. Lots of wear and tear on the exterior and the interior. And the engines start sounding a little rough.

To me, all comes down to the type of owners and how they took care of the vehicle. Now I realize that Lexus owners in general, maintain and care for their vehicle more than those of other lesser brands. I would put my 07 Lexus up against an 07 Hyundai or 07 Ford, etc, any day.

I agree about using Toyota dealers over Lexus, it will save you $. Or a local mechanic since you have 1 you like.
My 04 has the peeling Bamboo paint, and the mirror actuators had to be replaced.

I had the actuators repaired by a local mechanic, $500 and he used parts from the dealer. The dealer wanted $1300.
I did not contact Lexus about the paint, I read a lot of posts here and didn't see anyone who had luck with that. Also my vehicle is 10 years old which while not acceptable for the paint to peel, I felt my argument wouldn't be good for their help.

RX3302004, sounds like you made out with the Actuators being repaired by your local mechanic. $500 is a heck-of-a-lot better than $1300! I wish you all the best with your paint-peeling problem. Hey guys and gals. I have a question that I'm sure can be answered on this site. I'm doing some research on a 2005 RX330 through LexusDrivers, and I have come upon a couple descriptions in the vehicle's service history that I do not know the meaning of. For instance, the descriptions "Loaner Car," "Campaigns," "Front/Rear Body" and "Non-Warrantable Operation Code" come up quite a few times in the service history. Can anyone explain what those terms mean? Thank you for your time.

Loaner usually means the customer received one for the service. Campaigns could refer to various recalls or TSBS. Don't know the context of the others.
