From rotating my own tires or when working on my brakes and putting the tires back on.

Ive often wondered how they come up with these numbers. Why not 75? Also how do they figure out the #...my wife's Equinox is 125, my Subaru Outback was really low..like 65.

I torque my RX300 rim's at 76 ft lbs. as well. That's what it states in the manual, I believe it's the same for the RX330 as well.

I always retorque the lugs to 76 after I have the tires rotated. If the lugs are tightened to much or uneven, it can cause the rotors to warp and vibrate when braking.

The owner's manual shows 76. Curious as to why you would choose 80? I know it's only 4 ft-lbs...

Same here anytime anyone but me has removed and reinstalled the wheels. I recall one tire shop I went to was at least using a torque stick, but it was 100 lb-ft. Another one, the owner was changing to winter tires on his wife's car and there was an employee with a manual torque wrench installing lug nuts. On hoist beside him was a customer's car....air ratchet...Zzzzt...zzzt. Never been back there.

Still, I suppose the torque stick is better than the monkey with the air ratchet....zzzzt...zzzzt...zzzt. oh, what the hell....zzzzzzzzzzzt, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt.....lug nut torqued to near failure.

I did 80lbs, should i loosen them up a bit? It's a nice change breaking loose 80ft/lb lugs, I can do this with the regular ratchet but on my truck theyre at 120lbs and i literally have to stand on the ratchet and bounce to get them off.

You are within the margin of error.

Might need to re-visit this spec.

I see that the recommended torque is between 70~80 ft-lbs on 12 x 1.5 mm lugs. I should dial down and lock my Torque wrench to 76.

Ok then.
