Default RX330 starting problem

During temperatures below -15 deg C the 2005 RX330 will start and run to my first stop. On the second start, the car starts but the electronic/electric do not activate. The car will not shift into gear and fan, lights etc do not come on. The instrument panel has a flashing tire pressure sensor and the airbag, ABS and (!) lights remain on. After letting the car idle for several minutes everything comes on. I've taken the car into the dealership without success.

Welcome to Club Lexus, Tashme.

One thing we have noticed over the years is that when the battery in the RX starts to go all sorts of little gremlins seem to pop up. CEL lights come on, systems do not seem to work properly, etc. This would be my first line of inquiry especially with the cold weather you are having at the moment.

How old is the battery in your RX?

New batteries fail as well. Your symptoms are classic failing battery, maybe the brutal weather is finding a weak spot. Try another battery and test the alternator output.before spending money looking for gremlins.

Has the battery been checked? It is not unheard to find a new battery to be bad especially in harsh conditions. Next, would look at the charging system. Since the problem resolves itself after the vehicle has had a chance to run for a bit, and perhaps charge, it is not unreasonable to suspect something amiss with one or the other.
