Default 2008 RX 400h oil weight

I know this has been discussed before, however my RX is in need of its first change since I bought it. Someone wrote 5/20 Castro on the engine area . The owners manual says either 0/20 pr 5/20, I called lexus in Kansas City and they said 5/30 and that's what they put in their 400h . So what do you guys think ? I was going to change in my self and use Mobil 1 . Oh ya 66k miles 2nd owner
Thanks Chris

The updated Owner's Manual for your vehicle online with Lexus states for you to use 0W-20 for all temperatures. So, that would be what I would use and ask for during services if you happen to take it to the dealer for any reason. Mobil 1 has a synthetic 0W-20, I think they are all synthetic at that weight, so you should be good to go.

5W-30 is what the RX330 and RX350 (I believe on the latter) were specified from the factory. I know it to be true of the RX330. Now, as for why the dealership told you that was also true for the RX400h is unknown to me. Perhaps they did not get "the memo," are behind the times, or are just inept. Would be sure to question any work to be done on your vehicle if you take it there and if possible I would look for another dealership for any recall work if it comes to that. Otherwise, DIY or go to a local Toyota or independent mechanic you can trust.

wow, ive been using 5w30 always... and it gets COLD here in canada. but the truth is that 5w30, 0w20 should still all work fine for the rx.

my 'old' my07 manual stated 5w30 so i just always stuck to that.
