Any time you have tires replaced, those with TPMS should have the sensors inspected to determine the charge on the batteries and they should be replaced as a group as necessary at that time.

Where do you go to have new Sensors put in at a reasonable price? My mechanic said he'll do it for $40 each, totaling $200 for 5 tires. I think that's too much.
Someone had said Walmart or Discount Tires might be a better place. I think $10-$20 each is more reasonable.

Do you really need the sensor? If you are hit by a nail on the road, sensor won't be able to prevent it from happening. Just check the tire pressure once every week you are good to go.
Note that when the temperature is lower in the winter the air pressure goes down. So you need to put more air in the tire in the winter and get some out in the summer.

expected battery life on tpms is 5-7 years so it is possible some of the batteries are dead or dying. if you had the tpms tested & they didn't register on the shops tool then they need to be replaced. as for dead battery or sears damaging them, you can find out when the tire is dismounted. as for $200 ea....... after you shoot the guy in the face for that quote, shop around, we sell your tpms for $44 ea. & find a real tire shop to do the install unless sears is willing to give you a deal since they just did the install & can do the reset.
