Tire Pressure warning light won't reset
 

Please help! Got 4 set of new tires for my 2009 RX350 all tires pressure correct including the spare on in the back for the trunk, I follow the manual instructions and this forum advices by reset button under the wheel column but the light did not go out? what did I do wrong? Thanks!

Did you have the stems replaced or services?

Had this issue an Infiniti I used to own and found out that the stems do need replacement as the gaskets can go bad over time. Installed new ones and it fixed the issue. But again, that was on a different vehicle.

I would suspect number 4 or 5 below.

Under the following conditions, the TPMS System may not function properly:

1. The areas, facilities or devices that use similar radio wave frequencies are located in the vicinity of the vehicle.
2. A radio device of similar frequency is used in or near the vehicle.
3. A lot of snow or ice is stuck to the vehicle, especially the wheels and around the wheel houses.
4. The battery of the sensor has been depleted.
5. A tire without tire pressure monitor valve sub-assembly is used.
6. Snow tires or tire chains are used.
7. If any other wheels than the specified ones are used, the system may not function properly because the radio waves are differently transmitted from the tire pressure sensor.
8. Depending on the tire type, the system may not function properly even though the specified wheels are used.
9. Although tires with tire pressure sensors are used, the selector switch is set to the other tire setting.

I would assume you had the tires replaced at a reputable tire shop, correct? If so they should have reset the system. I would take the vehicle back to them and let them figure it out.

Thanks for the info and advice, yes I did take to car back to the shop and they said the sensor battery need to be replace just like Rainbird said on the above reply! but I did even know that the sensor had battery? where the sensor battery located and can I DIY?

The TPMS battery is inside the sensor, of course, and is not really made to be replaced. You should replace the entire sensor, though they can be cut open for someone with the appropriate skills and time.

Any new sensor would need to be programed to be recognized by your vehicle. If doing one, consider having all four replaced.

I find it hard to believe that one of the batteries would be dead after this short a period of time with your 2009 RX350. Guess you may have gotten a bad battery. Just as likely the sensor was damaged during the tire installed.

Was your TPMS light on BEFORE you got the new tires? I would be very suspicious if it wasn't, then all of a sudden it came on when you got new tires... hoping that the shop didn't remove the sensor(s) which will force you to buy new ones...

Yes the light was on before I change new tires, and it still on! yes you are right I think one or two of the sensor going bad. Thank everyone for your input. I will have to take it to the stealer to get it fix! Lexus stealer already quote me for $130 each sensor not including labor and diagnostics.

There is button under the passenger side dash that allows you to switch between the sensors in two different sets of tires, like summer and snow tires. Could it have gotten bumped accidentally?

The life span of TPMS is 5-7 years. The battery is not replaceable. I have hear of people trying to spend the countless hours digging out the material. Why waste all that time and effort. We have OEM and aftermarket sensors better deal than the stealership with FREE shipping. Check us out
