Default Rx330 - radiator replacement

hello All,

i own a 2004 RX330, and my radiator has a slow leak and needs to be replaced. i read somewhere else in these forums that this particular radiator had a extended warranty, but as i have been informed by lexus, this has been expired as of 2011. so with my dumb luck i have to replace it.

now, reading around, it appears that Lexus has high percent of failure rate when it comes to the radiator for my year. so i'm thinking that i should have my radiator replaced with an aftermarket one.
i dont want to change to an OEM radiator and yet have to replace it again later down the road.
what do you guys think ? also, if i do choose to go aftermarket, any recommended brands ?

Welcome to CL, go with OEM, purchase from one of our approved CL vendor and you will get a discount. They have corrected the issue a long time ago.

i went with an aftermarket put in by a radiator shop in seattle. I have had all my work done at the dealer for lube and warranty service, however when my radiator also failed at 85,000 and the dealer wanted 1200.00 for the work I had it done by a great private radiator shop, had them use the Toyota approved fluid and was out the door for $550. I have never had to replace a radiator in any vehicle under 200K in my life, and felt this was way too soon for this failure. Love the vehicle and I would buy a 400h again in a heartbeat, but the oem starting battery, tires if you got goodyear, and radiator were not up to lexus standards

yes i have to agree that the lexus OEM for the radiator is utter garbage..i've owned 2 older cars and never had this issue happen before. .. i read that some people change the radiator multiple times
