Default 2009 RX350 U-Haul trailer hitch

UH sells this -

Round Tube Rec. (Powder Coat) - $160

Class 3 hitch
Max weight: 3,500 lbs,
Part number: 78530
Hitch Installation Guide - Model 78530
Is it the EXACT same thing as the $136 Curtis hitch?
HERE -

I'm wondering on both a quality level and appearance - just out of curiosity.

Currently I'm leaning toward just letting UH do the whole thing...

A self installation of the hitch itself will take no more than 15 minutes....

all you would have left would be the wiring if you need it.

Not sure but as another option, mine came with Drawtite 75153 which I removed and sold. Installation/removal very easy as it is a direct bolt-on.

I'm a girl so I won't be installing it, but maybe a local tire shop might?

I went and looked up Drawtite - and also found another one - Hidden Hitch - both with install videos - they look practically identical - though the Curt is the least expensive - and Hidden Hitch should be called Blatantly Obvious Hitch - not hidden at all.

I would be careful having U-Haul do an installation. I remember one member here said that U-Haul cut into the wiring and screwed things up. The Lexus has a plug in for wiring in the trunk area. Look over the link below, it shows the location and other good information.

None of the hitches available for the 2nd Generation RX can be considered "hidden" when installed. Just not going to happen. As I stated in a previous thread on this topic, the new 3rd Generation RX had its undercarriage modified in a manner where if you install a trailer hitch it is fairly well hidden. Best I have seen integrated.

I read these posts and after having some negative experiences with Uhaul I decided to go online, purchase an affordable hitch and do it myself. Purchased the Curt 13530 from a company called hitchweb
https://www.hitchweb.com/product/88/...ota-Highlander

Installation took me 20 minutes to do, no drilling involved and the round tube look made my car look clean. Listen ladies, Instead of paying for someone to install this for you, buy a buddy a 6 pack and pizza and he'll get this on for you.

I just got this hitch delivered in 2 days from Amazon for $140.

Installed today in 15 minutes by myself. What took the longest was removing the plastic covers on my RX400h.

Hitch looks great..

I installed the OEM trailer hitch probably 5 years ago to my RX330. After looking at the alternatives (shown in this thread) I ended up buying the hitch from Lexus at the time for $265. They wanted a total of $535 to install it...I rolled the dice and bought it and put it on myself. It took about 45 minutes - the install went really easily, and since my car had the towing prep package, I ran the wire up the rear end and hooked it to the receptacle that was already there and Viola...hitch installed.

For $265 (again 5 yrs ago) it was worth it to me because I really don't like the way the 3rd party ones looked. The OEM really fits and looks perfect.

I installed the Curt hitch yesterday on my RX400h. Couldn't have been easier. 15 minute install. Looks great.

The only difference between the Curt and the UHaul/DrawTite/Hidden Hitch is the chain hooks.

Save a ton and buy the Curt.
