I don't believe that grounds or corrosion and stuff like that have much of an effect on battery life. It is more the environment the battery is used in. The battery manufacturers say that high temperatures and charging cycles are the culprits. That and the quality of the battery. Lasting only 2 or 3 years is mostly an indication of poor quality more than anything else.

You guys think $100 or even $300 is a lot for a Lexus car battery? Did you know that the OEM Panasonic car battery costs more than $885? !!!
Lexus RX OEM car battery
I just installed a Bosch size 34 in my 06 GS300 and had to modify the plastic battery box to get it to fit. Check this video out. My OEM battery lasted 11 freaking years!
