Default Dealer wants $300 for minor blemish

I have a 2004 330 and for some reason the paint from the mirror panel is chipping/peeling off. The dealer quoted me on $300 to replace the mirror panels because replacement is the only way to repaint it. Parts cost $100 each side and labor costs $100. It isn't a major issue but I didn't expect such a minor problem to be so expensive. Is there any other solution to this? Thanks for any input!

Plasti Dip would be an interesting alternative too

When is anything from Lexus cheap to begin with ?? If you have time, take the side mirror off, prep the service and get a can of paint and clear coat and do it yourself. I remember replacing my side mirror at dealer cost was $271 ( parts only ) so $330 sounds about right.

Why don't you cover it up with Carbon Fiber Wrap Vinyl Film? You can get them in eBay for 10-$20.

Check out this guy, I don't think you'll even need to remove the mirror at all. Just install over it.

wow that doesn't look right....I agree ...take them off and paint them yourself...or try ebay to get replacements.
Painting them would be a cheaper route.

cheapest way is to peel paint, prep surface for paint and get a can of spray paint from automotive store and get it done yourself. make sure both driver side and passenger side color matches. Or even before you start peeling paint, buy a small sample of the paint to test and see if color matches first.
