RX 350 talgate won't open, not even manually :(
 

Hi,

The tailgate on my RX 350 refuses to open anymore. At some point, after unlocking it (by the key fob) it would stay there and I could manually lift it up but it does not let me lift it up manually either. It only goes up a few inches and then refuses to open further no matter how much force I apply.

This started happening after I tried to force open it when the motor was actually trying to close it.

Looks like I messed up some component but not sure which one and how do I go about replacing it. I have tried lubing the shafts of the struts but that hasn't helped.

I would start by looking at the actuator if you have damaged this it may be jammed up see if you can get into the cargo area and access the actuator and unbolt the arm to free it up until you can replace it.

Is the actuator located near the hinge? Is it easy to inspect or am I better off taking the car to the dealer?
