Default Yet Another Lexus RX Fluid Question

What type of ATF do you use in your RX and what are intervals different than what Toyota/Lexus suggests.

It depends on the year of your RX; I believe previous to 2007 the fluid I'd type 4 Toyota transmission fluid which needs to be changed at 60k miles (96k Kms). After 2007 the fluid is WS which Toyota claims is a lifetime fluid.

I personally use synthetic in my 2005 RX and use the recommended service interval.

Of course, one must recognize that there are now non-Toyota ATFs that meet the T-IV specifications. That means that it meets the toyota standard. This information can be found on the back of the ATF container. Same thing for extended life oil for my BMW - it used to be only BMW had the oil and now there are one or two others.

And we also know that neither company makes their own fluids so they must buy from someone who meets these specs.

Just an alternative thought.
