Default 04 rx330 and 05 highlander timing belt question

I have a 04 rx330 and have 140,000kms and it is recommended i change my timing belt at 144,000kms.
Is the timing belt for an rx330 and 05 toyota highlander the same engine and uses the same parts.
I called Lexus dealer ship and the belt difference from toyota dealership is 60 buks.
I would rather just go to toyota dealer ship and save me money if its the same parts.

Does anyone know if the timing belts are the same.
thanks,

They are the same part number per Toyota. However, they recommend changing at 90000 miles. I have done the job at 93000 and tjhe belt looked brand new. Seriously, brand new. Hardly a any noticeable wear. I would not recommend changing it until at least 110 or 120K miles. MILES not Kilometers. You do the conversion on that friend, but there was an entire thread worth of advice confirming what I found which was 90000 miles was WAY early for a belt change in respect to wear and tear on the belt itself.

I agree^^ I`m not replacing mine until 120,000 miles. And the plugs at the same time.

Good call on that one too 114. I pulled mine at the same time I did my Timing Belt and found the plugs to be extremely clean. Not gonna change mine for quite a while. Not to mention the back 3 are not the most fun to get at.

Concur. I had our timing belt/water pump replaced, along with the Iridium plugs, at 92,000 miles and both could have easily could have gone much longer. Second time around, I plan to push the interval to at least 110,000 miles (based upon recommendation from a friend that is a Toyota tech). Either way, based upon my experience, replacing at 90,000 miles is too early.

I think you can wait longer for ANY service - motor oil, trans fluid (no need to change if looks good), etc. if you are tight on the budget and OUT of the warranty.
E.g. in Europe oil change required after 15,000km I believe.
My timing belt looked good (at 150,000 km), but as per master was "soft" and required replacement. I think it could've run longer... But you never know for sure...

Good thread,I was trying to set up an appointment with the Toyota dealer for next week to do the timing belt on the 04 330 (99k miles) as they are about 400 less then the Lexus one ($595-vs $996 with WP included).
What are the thoughts on idler pully's at the same time (would add $215 for both to the bill)?

Do them all at the same time friend. It is not too much more expensive with the pump and pulleys. Plus you kick yourself I at 180k your belt failed because of a stupid idler pulley Bearing.
