Thumbs down RX-330 leaking axle seal

Our 2005 RX330 recently developed a leaking right axle oil seal which we had repaired in our local transmission shop. This was very disappointing since the car has low (71,000) miles. I have been told that the RX 330 uses the same transmission as the Highlander and Toyota have issued a service bulletin T-SB-0138-10 which addresses this issue.
Have other people had the same problem? This seems like this type of failure should not be acceptable in a premium vehicle like the Lexus.
I am interested to hear other opinions.
