I have no text problems, but I am an Apple person. Vaistech seems to be a little more geared to Apple products.

Are you using bluetooth or cable to connect?

I was using the bluetooth interface (SL3B) for the last couple months and the text worked fine. I just sent it back to Vaistech and had them send me the wired connection (MML) because the iPhone 6 has bluetooth kinks that Apple has yet to fix. Both the MML and SL3B work just fine with text.

Yeah, my phones could be wonky. But they're both relatively new and I'm not going to replace them, so... I just wish the Bluetooth standard had been implemented better by all parties.

My attempt to throw together a cheap substitute did not work so now I'm looking at Grom products that will at least give me an aux cable if all else fails.

Well it's not the bluetooth standard. They're are definitely compatible. Its a bug in iOS 8. Anyway, I talked with Vaistech and they let me return the bluetooth one for the MML. I just paid shipping and the difference in cost.

If I am not interested in connecting via Bluetooth on my 5s (drains battery quicker) and want to plug in, do you still recommend the VAIS? Didn't want to pay a premium for the VAIS if the big plus is the bluetooth. But, I also want to get whatever is most reliable. I have done the save-a-little path enough to know it's worth it to buy whatever is best first...and be done with it.

My main requirement is for my wife to be able to play her iphone and pandora via the radio without interfering with the CD player, etc. So odd that inexpensive cars have this but Lexus didnt. BTW it's an 08 rx400h. Thanks much!

Looking like the MML may be the best bet?

It's not surprising that the RX didn't have this...The first year of the RX was 2004 and iPods were relatively new back then. In 2006 they changed the stereo and made a factory iPod interface optional equipment which was pretty common among most car manufacturers. But it wasn't till about 2008/2009 that car manufacturers started making multimedia interfaces standard equipment.

Anyway...I have had the MML for a couple months now and I love it. I have had several iPod/iPhone interfaces in several cars and I have never had one that was as reliable and as easy to control from the radio.

Did you install the Vaistech unit yourself?
