Default Extended Warranty: Lexus Platinum or Penske Platinum?

I have 49k miles and the car was put in service in January of 08 so its time for an extended warranty! Does anybody know the difference between a Lexus Platinum vs. a Penske Platinum warranty? I've done my research and I cant find details of the Penske warranty on the web. The only thing I know is that there is a $50 deductible for Penske if I were to fix it elsewhere besides the dealership I bought my warranty from BUT I'm not planning to move in the next 5 years so all warranty work will be done at my usual dealership.

Here is the price comparison:
Penske, 8 yrs/ 125k miles - $2090
Penske, 8yrs/ 100k miles - $1880
Lexus, 8yrs/ 100k miles - $1960

If I go with Penske, I'm doing the 8/125. I just need to know which has better coverage?

Thanks!

I can't answer your question, but - I will soon be in teh same situation as you are in - I would check out prices at:

Hello my name is Toby Rivers I am the Business Manager for Lexus of Shreveport in Bossier City Louisiana. I sell Lexus warranties at a discounted price. You can send me an email or call me anytime for a price. I also can sell warranties on other models if need be.

I am offering Lexus Platinum Warranties from Lexus not an after market warranty company.
My Email address is : TobyToyota@aol.com
1-800-335-3987

He got very good referrals on Lexus Owners Club, and I had written to him when I bought the car (he suggeste4d I wait to buy the warranty) and he seemed very fair.

Good luck!

(In general, I would prefer to buy a manufacturer's warrnaty rather than that of a third party)

I've done extensive research on pricing for the Lexus Platinum warranty and I think my price is the lowest from what I have read. BUT I will email Toby and see if his prices have dropped. Thanks!

Thanks! That Lexus 8/100 is the price he quoted me. It is the best price around. I believe your 6/70 is at $830 right now. Btw, what year is your car and how much do you drive it?

Default Rx350

I have a 2007 Flint Mica FWD RX350.

I just went over 43K. When the warranty is out. I am going to buy another Lexus. I have had only a few problems with mine.

But I dont think I will get another RX. Maybe an IS-F. Lets see if the updated one comes out.

Wow, you dont drive it much! Have you driven an IS-F? That is a totally different beast than the RX. I would certainly do the same, if family obligation was not a necessity.

And some times the kids quietly influence the parents to purchase a vehicle they expect to drive in near future.

Hmmm. My influence on my parents should have been better. They would never dream of spending >$40K for a daily driver...but dropped $100K or more on an RV...I'll try harder the next time!

I can vouch that the IS-F is a lot of fun. I just traded my 08 F for my 08 RX400h. Unfortunately I needed a more practical car

The sound of the intake as the secondary flap opens on the F at approx. 3500 RPM is seriously addictive.

I have had an extended warranty with Toyota and one with Lexus. No problems with either one. I was offered a 5 yr/125000 mile/ $0 deductible when I purchased my SC430 for no additional cost. The price according to the warranty book is almost $2k.

Since you are having trouble finding details on the Penske warranty I would say go with Lexus. You know what you are getting and you don't want any surprises down the road. Just my .02

One other consideration is if either one is transferrable. It is a bonus if you sell the car while the warranty is still in effect. Good luck
