Clunk noise coming from rear passenger side of '04 RX
I was driving my wifes '04 RX330 the other day and noticed there was occasionally a clunk coming from the rear passenger side. It seemed to only make the noise when turning left at low speeds or when going over large bumps in the road. Any ideas? It has 113,000 miles on it. I looked under the back of the vehicle and checked to make sure there was nothing visibly loose. Muffler seemed fine, lug nuts are all tight, brake rotors and calipers all seemed tight and good. I haven't noticed any other issues with ride quality and I checked out the struts when I last did an oil change and didn't see any fluid or anything leaking.
Any suggestions?

A suspension component problem could cause the issue also. Such as strauts and the wheel bearing. Visually inspect the strauts. Lift the wheel and check the play of the wheel bearing.

I too had an issue where when ever I went over a speed bump or a bump I would get a knocking noise from the back. I swore black and blue that it had to be the muffler or something loose at the back of the car. I too checked everything and everything looked fine. One day I was doing something in the back of the car and popped open the compartment areas and found that I had put 1 of 2 of my towing eye hooks (similar looking to this) in the rear most compartments.
I removed it and just left the other 1 in it's compartment (where the jack and other associated things fit into the foam nicely). The noise went away and I was so happy.
Check to see if something is loose within the compartments at the back of your car. Mine literally only rocked slightly from side to side (a few centimeters) and was enough to convince me it was a bigger problem than it was.

My RX was making a noise from the back as well. I told my friend who is a Lexus tech and he knew of the problem. On the driver's side in front of the rear tire, there is a large black plastic underbody panel. It is secured everywhere except in front of the rear driver's side tire. The black plastic hits the underbody of the vehicle causing a thud. He showed me when it was on the lift and I could see where it had been rubbing---alot! He used a grinder to cut about 3" off the plastic and the problem was solved. No more thuds or clunking. The tech said it is very common for that to occur because the plastic is not secured casuing it to flap around.
Just something else you may want to check. GL

A1Lexis s it possible for you to post a pic of what you're talking about?
I'm hearing a knock coming from the rear of my 05 RX.
Draco will do what you suggest.
That knock is driving me crazy.
