Default Strength of the RX - All others will fail

This was a story I saw on Jalopnik today. Amazing really.

http://jalopnik.com/#!5772573/couple...-totaled-lexus

It is sad & devastating what happened to the city and people of Christchurch, NZ.

Oh my god that's tough!

I remember seeing that clip where that rx was totalled under tonnes and tonnes of building coming crashing down. Did you manage to find that clip too?

Not sure if I would not have opted for a rental or bus/plane. Dunno how the situation was out there after the earthquake though. Maybe they had to use it.

also, they must have had to drive with their head out the window, looking at that wind screen.

It's right hand driver over there. The right side of the windshield looks like it might have been easier to see out of vs. the left side.

My sister in law and her family survived what could have been a tragic roll over a few years ago on her RX300. They were T-boned and rolled over 3 times. The RX300 shell protected the husband and wife and the 3 year old son. Other than some slight minor cuts, all were safe and unscathed.

The RX is well built. Hence we ended up owning one. The sister in law bought a replacement vehicle and she chose a BIGGER SUV ending up with a Range Rover. I do not know about bigger is better. The Range Rover was a money pit and they dumped it after a year and picked up a TRD Sequoia. They have been happier since.

She still dreams of owning another RX though, can not blame her.

Great story, Mandy. My sister, a big RR and Audi fan (hubbie worked at a dealer), was driving mom's RX300. A tracter trailer tire came at her while she was doing 80 MPH on the highway. To this day she doesn't know how the RX didn't flip when she made extremely evasive moves to avoid it. The dealer told me of a woman who flipped hers. Not even a scratch on her. The RX is solid. Reading the story from New Zealand confirms it once again Don't care to test it myself though. Glad there was a happy ending for all.
