Driver's side Head Light
 

My driver's headlight - low beam, flickers then goes out completely upon turning turning it on, so I decided to buy a new bulb from the dealer, my mechanic swapped out the bulb and the result after is the same. Upon further investigation, found out water made it inside the ballast - see pictures attached.

"Good Faith" will Lexus replace this free of charge? looks to me it's a flaw on the sealing of the ballast. I am the original owner and have more than 100000 miles already on my 2005 Lexus RX330. I live in San Diego.

since your the original owner, you have a pretty good chance. try it. maybe they will cover at least half the cost. seem`s like striving for perfection has a long way to go. :rolleyes:

With over 100K miles on the RX, seems unlikely for Lexus to cover this. Time has shown that even Lexus is far from perfect. Doesn't hurt to try to get a "good faith" repair. Better yet, buy a new RX!

Depends on how much you have spent with the dealer for your stuff like tires, batteries, accessories, etc. You might get at least the part free, but most probably will be charged the labor.

You're right! If you've paid an arm and leg for overpriced parts/labor at a Lexus Dealership, they just must cut you a break!

I laugh to myself everytime I see the hitch on my Lexus and think that a Lexus dealership wanted $400 to install it. U-haul did it for $30! LOL :D

Been there done that. In my case I have never spent a dime with them. So when I tried to negotiate some goodwill on my headlamp condensation...guess what I got? Big fat NO! LOL! But I de-bugged my condensation (knock on wood) so no harm.

doubt if they will fix it for free....but wont hurt to try...

You're absolutely right, words uttered from service ref "last time we saw you is many moons ago" well then I'm gonna take it further then, gave Lexus a chance, my brother is a lawyer onmanufacturing Flawed Design. A very expensive part is not protected from harsh weather element, forums will back it up for defective sealing the Ballast Chamber.

Good luck, the leaking headlights are a known issue. There is a TSB, right? Some folks have had the headlights replaced more than once. My former RX had both lights replaced under warranty by the previous owner. I noticed water in one headlight in the Spring after washing the SUV. Well, the basic warranty had expired two months before. Corporate Lexus said, "Sorry". I went to the customer relations manager at the local dealership and she got Lexus to cover the expenses.

And I bet you've spent some dough on the dealership, right? Good for you.

Looks like the lawsuit was filed... Never, in over 30 years of car ownership have I ever had headlights getting moisture inside, until I owned a RX. I'm going to follow this closely.

I think your chances of getting the light replace have increased exponentially! Since you're in Cali, it might be worth a call to the law firm representing the class action lawsuit.
