Default DVD System

Hello,
I got an '05 RX330 a week ago. I love it! I did have one question. It has the DVD system. Is it possible to have the sound from the DVD come through the stereo, ot can it only be heard though the headphones? The reason I ask is I have a nine month old son, he can not use the headpes yet. He loves to watch the DVDs, is there a way he can hear them as well.
Thanks.

Default Welcome to CL!

Yes, you can play the DVD sound from the RSES through your speakers by pressing the "disc" button on the radio headunit twice. First press selects CD input, second selects the DVD. You may have to raise the volume a good bit, because the inputs are not well balanced - at least on mine. If the gearshift is in "Park" and the e-brake set, you should see the video on your nav screen as well.

If you're parked, you and your son can enjoy "Spongebob" together.

Thanks for the quick response. I did not know about being able to use the NAV for the DVD.
Thanks again.

As our cars increase in electronic complexity it seems that the manuals become more and more obtuse. I only found that nav display trick through this forum, and maybe I'm a little thick - or there weren't too many RSES-equipped RX's in the US two years ago, but I couldn't find it in the manual, and the dealer, despite a good try, couldn't find it either.

Maybe someone will publish an "RX for Dummies" handbook for those of us who can't make heads or tails of the owner's manual.

Wow.. this is amazing. I just got a 2004 Lexus RX 330 and was wondering the same thing... how/if I could get the sound to come through the speakers for the DVD after spending a couple evenings reading the manual. This forum is just too precious!

Was there different RSES available for the 04-05 RX3 and the european 06 RX4?
I have the one with integrated screens in the headrests and a dvdplayer under the front passanger seat and I've not been able to get this working.

What does your system look like?
