Is Delphi an OEM RX330 battery?
I recently got an '05 RX with 60K and it has a Delphi battery. The battery shows some weakness and I wonder if this is an original or a replacement battery.

I dont think so, Delphi sounds to be a supplier for GM vehicles. OEM would be Toyota I think.

Delphi is not a Toyota supplier for batteries.

Delphi Battery
My brand new 2004 RX and perhaps my 2006 as well came from the factory in Cambridge ON with a Delphi Battery. My 2008 did not!

If it is OEM, then it's still under warranty. Worth a trip to the dealer.

Good point, visit the Lexus dealer.

As far as I know, Lexus rebrands their own batteries, with a Lexus label and the warranty conditions. If no such sticker is on that battery, I dont think they will give you a reimbursement or even say that it is OEM

Back when I had an ES300 (my first Lexus) the Lexus mechanic told me I needed a new battery. He told me to go buy an Interstate as it was the same battery that Lexus used as OEM. Don't know if this is still true today but I would not hesitate to use the AutoZone battery. Consumer Reports like them.

In my experience, batteries usually give enough warning prior to needing replacement - longer cranking times, lights dim while sitting at a stop light, etc. Why on earth anyone would buy a battery from a dealer is beyond me. There are very few battery manufacturers in the US and most of us are well served buying an OEM equivalent at our favorite auto parts stores. Some stores will even hook up a "doohickey" that powers your memory settings so that the battery change doesn't require a complete reset.
Fwiw, my 5 1/2 year old RX330 shows no sign what so ever of needing its original battery replace. Still going strong. |

I'll probably buy a battery from an auto parts store and then submit the receipt to Lexus for a reimbursement. Hopefully they would not decline it since I did not buy from a dealer.

I would be very surprised if Lexus would reimburse this way. Battery replacement under warranty always require testing "under load", to verify the problem. They simply will not take your word that the battery was defective.
I went to Auzone and they determined that the battery was bad. I got a new one from them and faxed the receipt to Lexus. I am waiting for a check now. |

My 05 had a Delphi battery that was in it when I bought it last year.
