TPMS on new tire
I am getting snow tires for 2008 RX350. I understands that each TMPS needs to be registered into the computer and the deal charges big bucks for it.
Is there DIY tool which can be used to perform this process?
I found something listed below and looks like that some of it can be used. All your comments are welcome.

There's a procedure on how to register two sets of TPMS sensors in the owner's manual. Lexus specifically mentions giving the owner this option in case they run two sets of tires (i.e. summer and winter tires); exactly what you are doing.
Of course this is done can only be done with OEM sensors. You don't need to purchase a separate tool or device to do this.

When I had my IS-F, I had two sets of tires. The dealer had to initialize the new sensors into the system, but once that was done, I could switch the system to recognize each set of sensors myself.
IIRC, the dealer only charged me $160 to initialize the sensors, re-balance the tires (I had dedicated winter rims) and mount them on the vehicle. That seems fairly reasonable to me.
I would assume that the procedure in the manual just tells you how to switch the car to look for the sensors in the snow tires. I think the dealer would still have to "pair" the sensors with the car.
Good luck,
Jeff

I read the owner's manual and it says that you need to go to the deal for them to register the unique ID for each sensor. This is necessary no matter the sensor comes dealer or aftermaket. Certainly if you get the new tire from the dealer they will do it automatically but charge you.
The owners manual only talks about how to initialize the TPMS which is after the ID is registered. If there is any information about about how to regiater the ID I am all in for it. Thanks!

jtaylor3, looks that you got very good deal on your winter tire. WHat you described here is correct. The deal needs to put the unique ID to the ECU so that ECU can recognize the new TPMS.
I am a DIY guy. If paying the deal and owning the tool cost the same, I prefer to own the tool because I can do it either for my friends and I can also do it for future car. I heard that most cars from 2009 use TPMS right now.
