04 rx 330 radio interference

I'm wondering has anyone had fm radio interference when they have their rear window defogger on on my 2004 rx-330 i called lexus dealership they said well make an appointment and it will be $110. To look at it. I simply get in and out static on certain radio stations but stops when defogger is shut off.

AM or FM stations. Also tell us about if you driving through tall buildings [multipath reception] and or the station you are trying to tune is within 30 miles or so.

It may be worth wile to read the owners manual on radio reception and monitor the stereo indicator on your head unit.

All of the above will help you do some of the debugging without opening any panels.

Clarify with service adviser if the $110 charge can be applied towards the the repair if you go with them. Check what is covered under warranty. Dont be surprised if they say that the diagnosis fee is charged for in-warranty check up. [This is done to prevent customers bringing in their vehicle for a phantom problem .... the diagnosis fee is reimbursed if there is a problem under warranty].

Keep in mind the final bill and at a certain charge, it may not be worth the repair. Only you can decide what that number is.

Radio interference

Yes it only occurs with fm stations. They are phila stations about 30 miles away but most of their programming is simulcast anyway. I thought antenna was that removable stub and not in rear window with defogger. There are no adviseries on this so no warranty work would be available. The 110. Cost is before fixing the problem.

radio interference with 04 rx330

I'm having the same problem - only difference is that it affects ALL my FM and my AM stations. I'm not in an area with tall buildings or far out in the county. My husband as the same vehicle (sister lexuses) and he doesn't have this problem.

Did anyone figure this out?

The 05 RX330 which I purchased recently, the FM reception is extremely poor & AM stations do not come in at all.
The remedy...

Maybe the antenna is disconnected. Check at the back of the radio and also near the antenna end.

I am assuming you drive within 30 miles of the radio station you are trying to tune in.

Actually all radio stations FM & AM are within 2 miles to my driving locations & where I reside...
not a fan of the music or content aired for any of these radio stations on this tiny island, the reason why I didn't bother to find out why reception is terrible or non existent.
I was pleased the 6 CD player & Cassette player function perfectly.
Although when I move to Montreal, I will reevaluate again if it is really worth the trouble to verify the antenna connection for starters.

1: Any add-on aftermarket electronic device wires near antenna cable to radio receiver may cause interference issues.
2: There is a antenna amplifier module [if equipped ] between antenna and radio receiver, it may go weak or bad.

The amplifier is part of the antenna base mounted on the roof.

Maybe the addition of ferrite rings to the wires going to the defroster might help?
