did you get an alignment with the new tires to ensure that over your trip you do not experience any uneven tire wear. Also since the tires are wider you may need to reset to speedometer.

I think diverchris is thinking because your tires are wider this may cause a false speedometer reading. Since the tires you are replacing are the same diameter of 18 inches the wider tires should have no bearing on speedometer accuracy. I would not worry about it.

Not true. The tires aspect ratio is changed hence the diameter is changed. Sure, the wheel size has not changed but the tires are not just wider but taller as well. The 255/55/18 size will have your speedo reading about 3% slower than you are actually traveling. At 60 MPH you will actually be traveling close to 62 MPH. True, 3% is no big deal but if you tend to push things and think you are running around 8 MPH over the posted limit you could get a ticket as you are really running 11-12 over.

255-55-18's are fine. Just note the slight speed change. Go enjoy your trip.

Attempt to fix behind the dash at times makes the matter worse. I would only recommend a fix if the noise can not be tolerated.

At this stage, you need to demonstrate the noise to the tech and let him make as many efforts as needed to fix the problem.
