Default No cigarette/cigar lighter in 2d gen RX?

Bought my 2005 RX330 from the dealer as a CPO vehicle; I noted at purchase the lack of a cigarette/cigar lighter, and the salesman said he'd procure one. After it was in the service shop for a punch list visit, the technician wrote that the dash socket was only a power outlet and that no lighter was originally installed in the 2d generation RX. What do I know? Is that true? I do note that lighters pulled from a Camry doesn't fit (too small). Just curious since current Lexus models seem to still have lighters....Can anyone "enlighten" me? Thanks--

I don't have one in my 04, only two sockets for power, so the tech is right. I believe it's part of the ashtray option that takes the place of the two cup holder in middle console.

I believe that socket just came with a cover. However, Im pretty sure that there was something in the manual package that allows you to order the cig lighter to fit there. I could be wrong though....

is there anything that prevents using a cigarette lighter from another car or auto parts store and just plug it into the socket?

You can get any lighter plug in and use it, they are universal in size.

Default Lighter question

Thanks to all for the replies! I'll try another lighter. But the problem didn't seem to be the size of the lighter I pulled from a Camry; the socket instead seemed too large. I'll give it another shot though and let you all know.

There is a new and great looking lighter that even has LED lighting when activated. For the RX 330 & 350 on eBay Motors Item#280421415683

Didn't some of the 80's Jaguars have cigar holders in the console? I still want one of those 12 cylinder convertibles.... sooo sexy!

Default I believe ....

there is a kit available from lexus that provides an ashtray and a lighter. It causes the loss of a cupholder spot though.

Is the issue lack of ashtray or the socket? The socket size is a standard and all accessory plugs are sized to match the cig-lighter. For non-smoking option the heater/lighter thing is missing and you get a cover to plug the hole. The ashtray becomes non functional [coin holder or cup holders can replace it].

So theoretically you can stick a cig-lighter in the acc receptacle. To get an ashtray, one may need more than the socket change.
