Default RX400h on Winter Roads

There will soon be white stuff on the ground here and I'm wondering what to expect from our 2008 RX400h. I've looked in the manuals but didn't find anything. Does the car's anti-slip technology turn on the rear electric motor if its needed? TIA

Try posting it under hybrid tech. I dont frequent that forum, but you may find others who own the "H" there.

I'm not sure if the electric motor turns on or not.... but what I am sure of is that you should think about snow tires. Our 2008 400h came with Micheln Entergy tall season radials. They were terible compared to the traction we got with our rand Cherokee with all season Toyo Open County tires on it. I just put Pirrelli Scorpion and Ice tires on and am ready for the white stuff!

Default Snow last night ....

not a lot but enough to make uncleaned/untreated roads slippery. So I took the RX400h out and found an area where I could slip the front wheels around while watching the drive component display. Sure enough when the front wheels lost traction the electric motor for the rear ones came on and helped out. Good stuff.

I think you will be very pleased with your AWD in the snow with normal common sense driving. Just know the AWD does nothing for increased stopping power in icy/snowy conditions.
