the service write up should detail everything on where the $230 came from. Probably the cost of labor and test driving the vehicle. Transmission update is only covered up to 70K miles i think, because it was a TSB.

if there were no codes recorded from the car that was in response to this problem, I would suspect it is not the engine, but the tires/suspension. keep up updated on the problem and try to remember at what speeds this happens, driving conditions, while braking or coasting, or acelerating.

2004 RX330 Ultra Premium package with around 100,000 km
No accident
Full service history from Lexus dealer

Conclusion:

The guys at my local Lexus dealer drove my RX330 around (20 km) and could not reproduce the vibration.

They found a protective plate around the muffler was rusted, lose, and almost ready to fall off (they replaced it with a new one) also they updated the transmission computer. Then they spend another hour looking into my ABS because the diagnostic computer showed that there where some errors but at the end everything was ok. However the dealer don't know why I experienced the strong vibration.

In total the bill came out to $230. Should the transmission computer update should be covered under the power train warranty?

For the past days I have not noticed any vibration and I hope it stays that way I have been noticing the rough shifting everyone has been complaining about online.

Thanks for everyone's feedback
Thanks for the update, hope the future ownership experience is better than the first two weeks, GOOD LUCK

I have 2004 RX330 also, but I have only 99,000 miles only. My car vibrates randomly when on the Highway and after driving for 45min to 1 hour. When it starts vibrating, I need to pull over to the side of the road and come to a complete stop. At that point car is OK for some random period of time. But it is hard to know when vibration comes back on. You can feel vibration in steering wheel. Vibration is lot lower around 40 to 55 MPH. Any suggestions?

thanks
