are you talking about the fan only working at certain switch positions (lo, med, hi). If so, Its a blower motor/switch issue. This is common in many vehicles as they age. Usually about $75 to fix at your local mechanic
We had lexus dealership changing the coolant for us...also, there was no 'switch' to turn the fan, 04' rx330 had touch screen control for everything so the fan has nothing to do with it, it will work according to the speed, but what I am talking about is the 'heat' that come out from the vent, it will just come out cold air until I set the temperature to 'max hot' then the heat will come out...
I had a heater problem in my '04 RX which turned into an intermittent overheating problem. It seemed like a bad thermostat to me, but the dealer found that the radiator was leaking. My car was still under CPO warranty, but I was informed that there was a bad batch of radiators in some '04 cars, and Lexus would replace them for free, warranty or not (and Lexus probably gets reimbursed by the radiator supplier). It's pretty unusual for any radiator to go out, especially after only a few years, and especially in a luxury car like this, but they made it right with the free new radiator. Also: I had no signs of leaking in the driveway or parking areas, so the leak was not major, and probably only under pressure, but the heat needle would go up almost to the top of the hot end and then slowly go back down. After the second or third time this happened, I was off to the shop immediately with no appointment and a good result.
Or it could be your thermostat.
