I asked my local tire shop for the price on Alenza's and the guy said it's something like 220 per tire. I didn't tell him about Tire Rack though...I might try that.

Bumpin this thread, I also am in need of replacing the tires on my RX. I was going to use the full spare as a replacement and then buy 3 michelins. Not trying to break the bank really, because the lease will be up this August.

tirerack is always your best bet, but lugging them to the installer is a bit of a pain. Sometimes, just to make it easy on yourself, just go to costco and get the stock michelins.

for my 18"

tirerack:
stock Michelins $183 each
Goodyears RSA (stock but horrible tire life) $145 each
I hear good things about the bridgestone Dueler $168

Costco:
Michelins: $142. $165, $191 depending on which tire

If you have not used that tire for a few years (6) 2004-2010, the tire still ages and sometimes not well. depending on the environment.

The best thing to do is to rotate that tire during the normal cycle of rotations to use it or leave it as a spare for the duration. I'd not feel safe driving at speed on a tire that is over 6 years old. If this is the case, I'd buy 4 new tires and leave the spare for emergency use.

My car is an 08. So it's been a spare for about 1 yr and a half, should be no problem driving on it. And I guess I'll just replace the other 3 with the OEM michelins.

You guys are thinking cosco's a good bet huh???

I just checked the prices on the site you listed. Great prices! Quite lower than tirerack.com. Thanks!

I just had the Alenzas installed on my 2008 RX350. We've received about 8 inches of snow over the last 2 weeks and they have handled it great. I also just went on a 400 miles trip with them and the ride is excellent. I would certainly buy them again. I got them installed at Discount Tire for just a little over $800.

I put a set of Alenza's on a 2008 RX350 about 10,000 miles ago and couldn't be happier. I've rotated them twice and they show hardly any tread wear. They are quiet, ride and handle well at 32-33 PSI.
The OEM's were POS Goodyears that barely made 30,000 miles with noise and a horrible ride. I'll never take delivery of ANY vehicle that has Goodyears on it.

Tire Rack will deliver the tires to your installer. That is what I have done in the past. Just make arrangements with the installer and have him give you a call when they are delivered. You can also track the delivery.

Personally i don't like the square shoulder. I think it makes handling feel strange when turning. My wife loves her RX350. I would rather have a Cayenne. The RX is way to mushy for me.

Depends on your needs. The Bridgestone Alenzas on my RX have served me well for 50K miles and counting so far and have handled upwards of 6" of snow on unplowed backroads in the mountains of PA without problem. As an all-season tire they do the job. Never felt the steering response they provide to be odd in any way and have always felt secure even when pushing the limits. Needing something sportier then you perhaps move to something along the lines of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde. Different tire characteristics for different needs. There have been long discussions about appropriate tires for the 2nd Generation RX beyond this thread which I would say is obsolete as this one was three and a half years old before you resurrected it. Such as:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...e-choices.html

As for the comparison between an RX and the Cayenne, well... they are not in the same class. The RX is a "soft utility vehicle" with little sport about it, IMO. Besides, the Cayenne is how much more expensive when you compare same-with-same let alone how much extra are those service calls going to run you?
