cd player squeak sound not dash rattle
SO my 6 disc player now has a squeak when a cd is being played. goes away when you switch to radio. It sounds like the cd is spinning and it is a squeak/wobble tire out of balance sound very faint. IT IS annoying and frustrating. I have done this so far
Ran a cd lens cleaner in each disc 3 or 4 times for 1-2 min each cd
Tried multiple cds
tried single cd only in player
It makes the sound no matter what Disc you are listening too.. SO I cannot find out but how do you pull the CD player out of the dash? And is there something needed lubed on the CD spindle itself? Please help
Thanks!!

Sounds unusual
Is there anyway something could have been pushed in the CD slot besides a CD? This would probably only occur with children. There are posts that show the stereo removal process. I suggest you try a search on something like stereo removal. Good luck.

No kids and I have searched I can't find a darn thing. Its a squeak from the internal cd player itself like a rubbing noise.. no one has experienced this? Other than this noise everything works fine.

Search advice
I just found the post I was thinking of for stereo removal. Lexuslover has a great post for installing the Vaistech SLI and it describes the stereo removal process with pics. Try searching on Vaistech SLI and that should find it. It's for a 2004 I believe, but I think the same instructions would apply to a number of years.

Are you out of warranty? If not take it in.

There is the sound that the CD makes when it seeks and tries to read data - this is the sound of the servo moving the lense forward and backward. Those are usually short bursts of squeaks. If you get an excess of these it can ususally be fixed by some cleaning and lubrication of the servo mechanism.
Then there is a sound that is being made when the disc is spinning and is not balanced. This would be a continuous "whine", I don't even know if you can fix that.
You can try to blow the thing with some IT-quality compressed air. They sell these canisters in most office supply / computer stores. If you remove the drive you can try it from different angles and see if you can get some lubrication on the mechanism.
Assuming everything inside is clean and the squeak still continues - this usually means the CD drive is out of balance. This can happen if a low quality CD was inserted at some point. Fixing this is not a DIY exercise...

Our CD player was acting up, so I installed a Vais SL2I-Up using LexusLover's directions. Now the CD's stay at home and we don't use the CD player anymore.

Here are the stereo removal instructions.
Anybody got a pinout for the stereo? Running it on the bench might help narrow down the problem.
