No first-hand, but I have had many sets of many different types of Michelin tires (car and SUV) and never, ever been disappointed.

I had CT's on my RX 300 and they were excellent replacements for the OEM Goodyear Integritys that were really disappointing. I uprated the tires one size, as do many people on this forum, and found performance, noise, and wear to be outstanding. I currently have Bridgestone Alenza's on my RX 330 (CT's not available to fit at least as of last fall) and they too are outperforming the OEM Michelins by a wide margin. I suspect that the OEM tires are built to a bulk price target, and are not fair representatives of either the type or manufacturer.

+1 on CTs being an upgrade over the originals.

No first hand experience on an RX330, but FWIW over a year ago I did put the Cross Terrians on my wife's 2004 Honda Pilot and they were a huge improvement over the OE GoodYear tires.

I'm very happy with them,, they are smooth and very quiet.

Good Luck,

TripleL

The Cross Terrains are one of the best SUV tires around.

Running the equivalent of the CT's on my 330 (without running outside and looking, I believe they are the MVX's also are one size up from originals), and have been for over 25k miles. I managed to wear out the OEM Goodyear's at less than 18k, and so far, the Michelin's are barely showing any wear. We have run the them through two serious winters now, and through last years record breaking snows on our mountain passes. I’ve been quite pleased with the performance in snow, and wet. I’ve been running them at 34 PSI which, for me, seems to be a nice compromise pressure setting for mileage, performance, and handling. Just completed a 3,358 mile trip through several Western states, and the Michelin’s handled everything, including an unexpected snow fall, and cruising long distances at about 90 MPH quite well (on secondary roads in mid Nevada, no traffic, shoulders were the flat desert, and roads that ran straight to the horizon).

Default Question on tire replace for size 235/55R18

The goodyear OE tire on my RX350 has almost weared out (less than 2/32) for only 16000 miles. the wife drives the car pretty consertively.

From tirerack.com, people highly recommand the Yokohama AVID V4S which ranks higher in all catergories. Other choices are Michelin Energy MXV4 s8, Goodyear Assurance comfoTred, and General Exclain UHP.

Any suggestion for these tires?

Consumer Reports has just tested a bunch of SUV tires. You can find the ratings in its November 2008 issue. Due to copyrights, I won't post the ratings here.

The Michelin Cross Terrain tire was tested in the November 2004 issue and received very low rating (19th out of 22 tires tested.) Some diehard fans argued that it's a "cheaper" version of Ford OEM tire.

My rough riding Goodyear Fortera TripleTred finally wore out, so I switched to the Michelin LTX M/S tires. It's not great in every way, but the rating shows it's very good in snow and on ice which is very important to me.

I'm not surprised that your OEM's wore out so fast, ours did to. I have to say that my choice was based on availability, and had I been able, I would have chosen the very popular Bridgestone’s all seasons in lieu of the Michelins, but can't really complain as wear and handling have been quite good. I’ve had zero experience with the Yokohama's so cannot comment, but I'm going to stay as far away as I can from the Goodyear’s after our last two experiences (RX 300 and RX 330) - very poor wear, under some conditions abysmal handling, and very noisy as the tread wore away. We currently run Falken 912 high performance all seasons on our IS 250AWD, and if Falken made a comparable size to the Bridgestone’s and Michelins, I would really be tempted to go with them based on the significant improvement in handling, noise and wear on our IS.

The Yokos are ok, but not as good as Cross Terrains.

Default The Mich's won't fit the 330

They did fit the RX300 but on the 330 only there are only two tires that will fit and they both are expensive for what you get, but, what choice do we have???

I have a 350h premium plus, manufactured in march, with the 19 inch rims and it came with michelins. Am quite pleased with them.
