How to Program an 2004 Rx330 Key

Just bought a New rx330 key with power trunk, does anyone know if i can program it? or i have to go to dealer for it. thanks for your help

As long as you have one working key, just bring it to your Lexus dealer and they can reprogram it for free. Takes only about 5 min. All 2004 and up RXs has to be reprogrammed by the dealer as they only have the special software. Locksmith won't be able to do it.

Free? Really? Every Lexus? Thanks for your information.

Most Lexus dealers will reprogram your key for free as a courtesy because it's easy to do. Good that you are getting a spare key because if you ever lost your only working key then your whole ignition electronics would have to be reprogram and that won't be for free, that would be major BIG $$$.

just call Lexus of Queens
(718) 392-7500 www.lexus.com
4040 Northern Blvd, Long Island City, NY 11101 they wants $105 plus tax for porgram my key =(

You got to be kidding. It sounds like $105 includes buying a remote key from them. If not, then they are a rip off. Check out other Lexus dealers. Tell them, I have a spare key that needs to be reprogram & I heard it can be done for free. I had it done twice here in CA for free.

They want $350 for new key plus $105 for program. I should try other lexus dealer. Thanks again

Do you have the ebay item # or the link for the key? also how much do they charge to cut the key? I call another Lexus today and they still charging people an hour labor for programing the key. Please keep me update after you program the key. Thanks for your help.

Sorry to hear the BS in NY. Programming the key is really simple, takes about 5 min, maybe 10 the most but surely not an hour. For the self programming, I'm pretty sure that the self programming is for the RX300 & not for the second generation RX.

I unfortunately had to replace a missing second key. Lexus charged $244 which included the key ($180), cutting ($20) and programming ($44).

For anyone that need a replacement key..

First, call your local locksmith ..to ask if they can cut and program the key.
Then order keys from Ebay...

I have a 2004 RX330.

I called the dealer they said you can't buy ebay key ...it will not work..with the new car... The rep said that the key will not work with the programing (This is untrue)

I ordered two keys from ebay... the seller is midwestkeyless
I paid a locksmith ..that did it for $50 each... (cutting and programing)
Anyone that say this can't be done, is wrong. Also you do not need laser cutting for this. Do not go to the dealer unless u want to spend $250 per uncut key.
