Default 2009 RX350 pricing question

I'm getting ready to lease a 2009 RX350 and I've read here that under invoice seems to be the going rate? My dealer offered me $3k off MSRP. I'm looking at the performance package and that shows to have an MSRP of 42580 and KBB invoice of 37839. Once I saw the mark up on these, I emailed my dealer and asked for another 1500 off to make it 4500 off MSRP. Should I be getting a better deal or is this ok?

I want to lease the car for 36 mo at 12k per year with only fees and first payment down. My dealer quoted me 590 a month with 2k down...that seemed a little high to me.

We are turning in our BWM X3 lease and this is our first Lexus.

Well my local dealer will only go 3500 off MSRP. The other problem is the package I want is not available in my area. I want the performance package or premium package plus. Mainly I want the graphite wheels and HIDs without NAV.

I just got $41600 sales price on AWD, Nav, Towing Prep, Cargo Mat, Wheel Locks, Prem Plus, Liquid Graphite 18 in wheels, Heated Seats/RainSensing wipers. I added Ipod in the glove box to it for $520. From what I have seen on Edmunds forum folks are getting this for about $39500-$39900 but I have yet to confirm if the folks quoting lower prices got Liquid Graphite 18 in wheels and Heated seats/RainSensing Wipers which could explain some of the difference. Some are getting another $1k off of that for Lexus Loyalty discount for being prior Lexus owners which I was not.

depends on your area i guess. in california i think getting under invoice should be expected. but then again there are a lot more dealers here hence more comptetion. i would suggest emailing the dealer and saying that since they are going to remodel soon they have to do better on pricing and lease terms.

we used edmunds.com, sign up and select your local dealers. edmunds contacted 8 dealers for us. we knew what we wanted and the price point. It saves a lot of time and BS with salespeople. We spent 2 days on the phone with multiple dealers calling us. Made the purchase on the phone, never went to the dealership except to pick up the car. Plus its easier to low ball them on the phone without feeling embarrassed, and trust me they will always call you back with a counter offer.

My MSRP on my options was $46241. I also had zero on the destination charge line but I believe it was added back in to get to the $41600 sales price...because I asked for $40800 offer that I got from another dealer. 200 miles in and I am loving it!!! I think I could have gotten another $1000 or so off if I'd been open to other colors and willing to haggle a bit longer but my red/black color combo along with my desired feature combo was not readily accessible on dealer lots and I was kind of pressed to close quickly as the transmission on my Acura was about to go at any moment and I didn't want to drive it with my long commute any longer. I also got a decent amount on tradein considering the transmission and 130k+ miles on the Acura so I'm pleased. I agree with the other poster that I have seen much lower pricing from folks on the west coast.

Not sure I am liking the Ipod Interface yet but I haven't had time to really play with it yet. I had installed Ipod in my old car through Circuit City and I had an ability to search by artist and don't think I can do that now. So far it looks like I can only go to certain playlists and then scroll through songs in each playlist.

I'm getting 20.9 mpg so far at 200 miles in.

I did most of my negotiating online by email before I went to the dealership and went in with Edmunds and Consumer Reports info and the pricing I saw others were getting online. I definitely think no one should buy right now for more than at least 12-13% off MSRP (including all freight/destination) before dealer fees/tax/title/tags.

yes I found that wanting a certain package and color/combo definitely leads to getting a worse deal than others

black, white and silver RX350s are everywhere on my local roads so I wanted to avoid those like the plague and get a unique color

if you are very flexible on color and package you definitely can get $39500 or even less than that if you add on Lexus Loyalty discount.

Well we finally decided on an 09 RX350 with premium plus and NAV...MSRP of 44841 and we got it for 40500 with window tint and iPOD adaptor. 36 month lease of $640 with only fees down.

Matador Red with Tan and we should get it next week.
