You got me there, buddy! Good luck with your new ride. Anybody else who have tried installing their hood deflector?

I did mine the other night. I have to say the quality of the deflector is A1. Much thicker than whats on my Tundra (Toyota OEM).

Installation was fairly easy and took about 45 minutes. I'd post a pic but my daughter took the camera.

Deflector is on Flint Mica - looks great. Adds something to the front end. Subtle - not too obvious.

Instruction were straight forward.

I have a few ??. The location of the bumpers are not necessarily correct, per the manual. Did you adjust yours? Does the deflector hit any of the hood? It looks like the deflector will hit the lower center bottom part. If you can post detailed pictures, it would be appreciated much. I am still so-so with the install. Thinking that it will damage the hood-paint. Was there some sort of "forcing" the deflector to hug the hood? It appears that way when I tried to install it. Looks like a 2 person job, to me. I need some guidance. The other thing too, is that the bumpers are BIG...when you decide to take off the deflector, the bumpers will stand out....

I have a pic up if anyone is interested. In response to Mandy's questions.

"The location of the bumpers are not necessarily correct, per the manual. Did you adjust yours? "

Yes - The top centre bumper didin't seem to do anything because of the large space between the guard and hood. I moved it down a fair bit after the install. It was a bit tough to take it off but no damage to the paint and it moved fine. Now I have it about 2 inches from the top of the grill.

The top left and right bumper were good. Although one was a bit higher than the other. Bad measurement on my part. I simply pried it off and moved it down a bit. If I had to do it again, I would install the bottom two and the top centre at 2". I would then install the top left and right after the deflector is installed.

"Does the deflector hit any of the hood? It looks like the deflector will hit the lower center bottom part."

I looked from all angles and the deflector sits higher than the hood at all angles. The brackets that connect to the hood force the deflector up at least 1/4 inch. The only place I thought it was close was at the two top corners of the chrome grill. Not touching the paint though.

"Was there some sort of "forcing" the deflector to hug the hood?"
Yes! For a bit I thought it wouldn't work. Best to have a second set of hands to just hold the deflector in place once you have it centered. I did it myself but one more hand would have been better. The tip here is to not try to do the pin install for all brackets first. You need to push the pin through and then install the metal bracket and screw. Don't tighten down all the way but come close. This holds that bracket in place while you install the other brackets. You can tighten them all down when all are in place.

Start in the middle and work your way out one side and then the other side. Lining up the holes on the deflector and clip is a combination of moving the deflector down into place and lining up the clip. As long as you have the protective plastic under the clip - your OK. Again - you do need to force it down to hug the hood.

Your right on the bumpers. They are big. If you take the deflector off, the bumpers need to come off as well otherwise they will look funny. I live up in N Ontario and have always left my deflectors on my vehicles all year. I was told to wax them and they will look good for a long time.

I took one picture but not sure what else would help. Again - once you have the hood clip on and push the pin though the deflector, put the metal bracket and screw on and it will hold in place. You can see how high the deflector sits. Start with the center and work to the sides.

Hope this helps. Any other questions - just ask.

Here is the pic. The vehicle is dirty but the deflector doesn't stand out too much and I like the subtle look. As with many things... personal preference.

Next project are the chrome door handles.

Your installation details are far better than what the manual said. I guess if the dealer installed it (I really have not seen one here in thye ATL, this deflector), then they would have done many and are experts.

Thanks again.

Deflector looks good, maybe I won't go with the clear bra after all.
