Question RE: tailgate/ limiter...

Is there a tailgate limiter on the RX? wife is complaining that she can't open the tailgate in the garage?..has to park outside and then bring all groceries in?...My MB GL320 has a tailgate limiter which is convenient.

I'll go and check to make sure....

that would be an excellent find if there. we've already got a small ding in the paint on the tailgate from it going up enough to bump against the garage door handle.

No.
Well, you can open it manually and stops it from going too high. Why is the garage door so low? I thought mine was low but it was high enough to not have the door hit up against it.

Not an answer to the question, but maybe it will solve the problem ....

The garage door usually has a travel limiter. If that is set short, the door does not go all the way up. Typically there is a emergency release (for power failure), you can try releasing the door and manually push the garage door past the electronic limiter to test it out.

[Note: If you don't know how to re-engage the emergency release, please do not attempt this]

I don't think the garage door is unusually low unless our glide rails are lower from the ceiling than normal but doesn't look that way to my uninformed eye. Door opens fully so there is plenty of clearance when pulling in. Door seems fully parallel to the ceiling when open so i don't think a travel limiter adjustment matters. Maybe if i eyeball it closely enough, adjusting just a few inches will help, not sure.

The problem is the tailgate swings up up enough that it will just bump up against the inside handle on the garage door. I think if i adjust the travel limit, it will just bump in a slightly different place. We had a Jeep Grand Ch before and it stopped about an inch below.

I forgot that I added an extra panel to the garage door.

My bad!

We park ours in the same spot in the garage everytime, so I glued some foam to the garage door where the tailgate hits. This works great. I glued several pieces so even if the car is off a little it is protected.
