Default Tow hitch lights causing "fast flash"

Not wanting to pay the ransom to Lexus, I installed an aftermarket hitch (Uhaul) and trailer light connector. All is well, except the turn signals flash very rapidly now. No lights are burned out, and, in the old days, you had to add a heavy duty flasher when you added trailer lights, but Lexus says there is no such replacement part. Any ideas? Maybe I just need to improve the connection of the wiring to the standard harness connection, or I thought I saw something about adding relays.

typically there is a isolating module that goes between RX and the trailer wiring. Does your RX come with one? Or did you wire up to the tail light-bulbs.

I used the module for the trailer lights, wiring the various leads into the harness that's under the left rear tail lights, accessed by removing the trays under the rear floor panels.
