I was talking about an extended wty not necessarily by Lexus. Everything by Lexus is overpriced.
6yr or 3 yr, regardless, it is from the date of purchase. My point is that if you purchase a Lexus certified vehicle and end up paying extra 2500 on the price of the car, your coverage will be shorter than if you go out and buy an extended coverage for half the money, on your own.

The base question as asked at the top of the thread has been answered ..
"as long as base warranty is not expired, the cost to get "certified pre-owned" would be around $2500"

I just leased a Certified Preowned RX400h it was $1000 more and a better lease price also. The vehicle was two years old 15,000 miles. I was going to pass on the pre-owned bit because I said the factory warranty is still there.

The "cost" to get it to a CPO standard depends on what they have to do. Bought a 2011 and the price on the invoice to get to a CPO was about $4K including four winter tires (January when I got it).

But for me, it wasn't technically a CPO as it was already over 100K km but since I've been a long-standing customer, the work was done to CPO standards.

I didn't buy extended warranty which was offered to me as I drive a lot of miles and I was pretty sure I would have used up the miles in maybe just over half the time of the warranty. I'm "self-insured" in my repairs.
